Class of '70.....March 18, 2000

Hello out there Class of '70!
I believe my last "short story" may have put a few of you to sleep. I know it drove Scott Baker to drink (or at least he claimed that he was leaving the comfort of his keyboard for a seedy bar to get "shitfaced" after reading my memories). I did receive "replys" from Kathy Foley McKee, David Reid and Nancy Rhodes Fountain following the last episode of days gone by.
Nancy informed me that she has a two week old grandbaby and exclaimed that she is doing Great! I'll bet she is one of the "cutest" grandmothers known to man. After all, we voted her the "Cutest" in the Class of '70. While I know that being a grandparent is exciting, I am having a tough time picturing any of us bouncing a "generation once removed" on our knees. At least while I'm trying to picture that scene, I am seeing Nancy's knees.
Pardon me while I briefly step away from the keyboard to splash a little more scotch over some fresh rocks in this empty glass of mine. It will help me deal with this "grandparent thing". OK, the reality of the moment is the certainty that there are several really cute grandmothers who walked out of NHS with me in the spring of 1970. I can't wait to see all of them (and those who are not yet blessed with grandchildren) in June. Also, I am pushing out of my mind all thoughts that there are grandfathers among us as well. I am certain that none of "the boys" have reached a level of maturity to claim such status.
David Reid's reply found me all the way from Hawaii with the simple touch of a keystroke (such benefits of cyberspace). I wish it were just as simple for me to join him on those beautiful beaches. The cybernotes I received from Kathy and Richard Riley (I failed to mention Richard earlier -- the memory lapses are short term, I promise) included remembrances similar to those recounted in my previous "short story". I do believe that their memories may be a little more clear than mine. My memories are more along the lines of the way I would like for things to have happened rather than the way things actually happened. Anyway, my memory is a bit clouded. Time to return to the NCAA basketball tourney. Go Hogs!
That short term memory lapse is refreshing at times. The Razorback spirit is still with me in spite of last night's loss. Ya'll have a drink on me. Turn on some good music (whatever your taste), sit down at the keyboard, and bang out a few sentences to me. Tell me about yourself, your kids (grandkids?), your jobs, your dreams. I really have missed you guys. Until next time, go out and have a bunch of FUN!
Laughing out loud, joe
